Smart Card and Smart Card Systems
- Checks are made regarding the Application Blocked Card. (fake card, etc.)
- After the necessary checks are made, the status of the card is set to “APPLICATION UNBLOCK”. In the next operation, the command “UNBLOCK APPLICATION” is sent to the card.
- Card cannot get authorization, TVR and CVR parameters of the transaction are examined. Here are the details about the process:
- The card has no transaction permission.
- The card is blocked.
- Card verification failed.
- Cardholder verification seems to have failed (from TVR) CVM Results parameter of the transaction is examined
- Issuer Script has been sent to the card. We are not sure about the result, the Issuer Script Results parameter of the transaction is checked
- If the transaction falls into fallback repeatedly, there may be a physical malfunction in the Card or the Card may be blocked. The card must be entered into the “Quality Assurance” process at the nearest bank branch or over the Internet.
- User wants to change Offline PIN (Future). The new PIN is taken from the user and entered into the system.
- The status of the card is set to “PIN CHANGE”. The PIN of the card is changed in the next transaction
- The customer requested to change their PIN, but the PIN has not changed. The parameters of the first transaction after the PIN change request are queried. Issuer Script Results parameter is examined from these parameters.
- It is checked whether the PIN CHANGE command is sent to the card.
- If PIN CHANGE command is sent, the result of this command is checked.
- The customer wants to deactivate his card. The status of the card is set to “CARD BLOCK”. In the next transaction, the card is blocked
- The customer wants to open his card for use
- Card status is set to “APPLICATION UNBLOCK”
- In the next transaction, the card is unblocked.
- The customer wants to increase the offline limits of his card
- The customer’s new limits are entered into the system
- Card status is set to “PUT DATA”
- In the next transaction, the customer’s limit is increased
- Customer says card is not working
- The application on the card may be blocked
- Card may be blocked
- If the customer is currently taking action, the problem can be understood by checking the message on the slip.
- The latest Issuer Script sent to the card is checked from the system. (CARD BLOCK, APPLICATION BLOCK) may have been sent
- The last transaction made by the card is checked. Information about the transaction can be seen from the TVR (Terminal log) and CVR (card log) parameters of this transaction.
If, as a result of the above controls, it is not clear why the card is not working, the card is directed to the “Quality Control” center. The customer says the transaction was declined
- Parameters in TVR are checked
- The card may not be effective. (Not yet available)
- Card verification (Static Data Authentication) failed
- Card has expired
- The card does not have permission to perform the specified operation
- The card is on the “Black List”
The customer requested to use the card, but it says it was not activated
- It is checked whether the APPLICATION UNBLOCK command is sent to enable the card to be used.
- If it has not been sent, the customer is told to go to the nearest ATM and open his card from there.
- If the APPLICATION UNBLOCK command is sent to the card, the result of this command (Issuer Script Results) is checked.
- If the result of the command (Issuer Script Results) is unsuccessful, contact the technical department to understand the cause of the problem.
- Information about the transaction made with a card (TVR, CVR, Transaction Type, Transaction Date) should be visible on the screens.
- If the transaction is rejected, the reason for the rejection should be clearly and detailed.
- Issuer Scripts sent to the card, the reasons and results of sending should be reported
- It should be possible to see the transactions made with the card and the controls that failed in these transactions on the terminal side (Card Verification failed, cardholder verification failed, etc.)
- The latest status of the card should be visible (Disabled, not opened yet, blocked, normal, etc.)
- The risk parameters of the card should be visible (number of consecutive offline transactions (lower and upper limits), daily offline/online spending limits)
- Fallback rates in transactions should be reported
- Online/offline rates in transactions should be reported
- Approval/rejection rates in transactions should be reported
- Reasons for rejection of transactions should be able to be reported
Effects of EMV Card on Customer
- Customer should know to use PIN on EMV card (in the future)
- He/she should know that he/she can transact offline with the EMV card (in the future)
- He should know that if he enters his PIN incorrectly 3 times, his PIN will be blocked
- Should know that if the chip part of the card is broken, he can use the magnetic stripe part.
- He should know that he can easily change the PIN of the card at any time.
- If he blocked his PIN, he should know that he can unlock it again.
- If the right to use PIN is reduced to 1, you can see the text “YOUR LAST RIGHT” on the screen of the terminal. In this case, you can get support from the bank’s “Call Center” before entering your PIN.
- Should know that the EMV card can be used for multi-purpose in the future
- Must know that EMV card is very difficult to copy
- He should know that he can change the offline transaction limits of his card (in the future)
